Instructions for the authors



Contributions offered

The editors accept the abstracts relating to the forthcoming themes published on the Journal website (http://revue.nulk.cz), or the requested studies. The contributions to other columns can be offered to the executive editor anytime ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ); their inclusion as well as the selection of studies according to submitted abstracts will be done upon the positive decision of the editors with respect to the capacity of individual issues and their thematic orientation. The contributions are accepted in Czech and Slovak languages.


Formal requirements
The authors are obliged to send their contributions (studies or news) in the electronic form in Microsoft Word editor. If not otherwise stipulated upon an agreement with the editors, the length of a contribution has to correspond to the specified ranges: studies and articles – max. 40 000 characters including gaps; news – max. 5 500; reviews – max. 7500 characters.

The study manuscript under the review procedure has to include a Czech or Slovak abstract (with 900–200 characters), 5–7 key words, footnotes, an alphabetic list of quoted literature and a brief author’s annotation in accordance with the below specimen. The study manuscripts and the manuscripts of other contributions, which are not the subject of the review procedure, have to correspond to the Journal of Ethnology’s standards – the more detailed instructions for literature quotes, interpretation of bibliographical references and other matters are available underhttp://na.nulk.cz (temporary unavailable).

All the contributions published in the Journal of Ethnology are remunerated pursuant to internal scale of tariffs therefore it is necessary to enclose the author’s permanent address, the birth-certificate number and the account number, to which the charge is to be transmitted, to each contribution (The studies written in another than Czech and Slovak language are not remunerated; the publisher pays, however, the translation to Czech).

The image enclosure is to be submitted in JPG (definition of 300 dpi at least, colours transmitted to greyscale), the legends are to include also the author of a photography (if known), the date and – if the photography is taken over from another publication – the exact bibliographical data incl. the page number. The photos are remunerated pursuant to scale of tariffs in force, therefore it is necessary to submit also the personal data of their authors (see above). The editors do the language correction in accordance with the Journal of Ethnology’s standards.

PhDr. Lucie Uhlíková, Ph.D. (*1969) has graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University Brno, the branch of musicology and ethnology. Since 1994, she has worked at the Brno Institute of Ethnology of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic and since 1998, she has been holding the post of the secretary and executive editor of the Journal of Ethnography. In addition to the ethnic stereotypes in folk culture and present society, she deals with the research of folklorism and musical folklore and the opening-up of folklore sources.
